SUMMARY:third BABCP ACT SIG / ACBS UK & Ireland Chapter Contextual Behavioural Science Conference
DESCRIPTION:The conference theme is ‚Building Bridges‘ and our hope is to bring together many like minded communities to learn from each other. This includes people from basic science and applied practice across diverse areas of work. We hope that this event will be of interest to practitioners and researchers interested in ACT\, FAP\, DBT\, Cognitive Therapy\, Compassion Focussed Therapy\, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy\, Humanistic Therapies and others. We also wish to appeal to people working in therapeutic settings\, in health\, in mental health\, counselling\, psychotherapy\, and also education\, organisational contexts\, coaching\, and others. \nOne strong element of CBS is the tight link between basic research and applications and we hope to be able to offer tracks in RFT\, and other theoretical and conceptual areas.  There will be invited keynotes and dialogues to exemplify the Building Bridges theme\, as well as an open call for submissions for symposia\, in-conference workshops\, skills classes\, panel debates\, and posters. \nThe conference will be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre\, with two days of pre conference workshop on the 22nd and 23rd November\, and two days of conference on the 24th and 25th November\, culminating in the world famous Follies event on the Friday night. \nEdinburgh is easy to get to\, with an train link to London of about four and a half hours\,  and an international airport just 25 minutes from the city centre\, serving hundreds of international destinations. Many major and budget airlines fly into Edinburgh. \nEdinburgh is a fabulous city and the timing of the conference will allow delegates to benefit from extending their stay in Scotland’s capital to make use of the extensive festivities and events that form Edinburgh’s Christmas celebrations\, such as the Princes Street Gardens\, German Market\, Ice Skating\, Fun fair\, music\, and dining. We hope to attract you to this world class city\, for a world class event.
